Wonderful lodge, and excellent hosts
This was the first time we had stayed here and we would return without a moment’s hesitation. Our unit was extremely comfortable with a very large bed, indoor sitting area, excellent bathroom and a furnished veranda overlooking a dry river bed where we regularly saw kudu, oryx, and wartogs. We had a game drive with Paul which was very informative and enjoyable. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, and beautifully presented. If you want a drink at the bar after dinner either Janet or Paul were there to chat if you wanted. This was in complete contrast to some lodges where you can find youself abandoned once dinner is finished. Janet and Paul are such good hosts that we left feeling as though we were leaving friends! Janet & Paul have created something very special with Ozongwindi Lodge. A little off the beaten track … but all the better for that as the surroundings are serene and relaxing bushveld into which 5-star accommodation has been tastefully incorporated. The largely open-plan main building – hosting the restaurant, bar, lounge and pool – is spectacular and, in addition to the abundant daytime birdlife, an added attraction for ‘twitchers’ will be the resident owl who keeps watch over Reception in the evenings. Suites are beautifully furnished and decorated, the beds divinely comfortable and the bathrooms palatial. The wonderful breakfasts and dinners, with Janet & Paul’s hands-on attention to even the smallest detail, provide the ‘bow on the show’. We spent 3 nights and would have liked to stay longer …. highly recommended! cunliffe_6570 via TripAdvisor
Peace & Quiet
Stayed here for 2 nights to kick start our 6 week trip around Namibia. And what a great place to do that. Easy drive from Windhoek and we came in from the B1 side along the D2110. Nice drive, and road was in pretty good condition. The Chalets are immaculate and extremely comfortable. Plenty of room to spread out. Well separated, and ours was right on the river bank with various antelope nearly always in view. Great birding to. Meals were of a very high standard and we had a dinner out on the balcony which was lovely. Paul/Janet were there if needed but not obtrusive. Staff attentive and well trained. Janet suggested a walk along the farm tracks on our second day which we really enjoyed with the dogs tagging along for company. Would definitely stay here again. MelbourneBazza via TripAdvisor
Hi Janet, hi Paul,
after our fantastic, breath taking journey through Namibia we are all in good mood, just a bit exhausted back home in Old Germany. We did enjoy our stay with you so much and unfortunately we have had just one night with you. As we have mentioned this was our third holiday in Namibia and we never ever have stayed in such a well maintained farm/lodge/hotel with such excellent dinner and so friendly and experienced, well trained staff. May be we’ll have a fourth trip to Namibia and be sure we are going to stay with you again. Best regards from the Ruhrgebiet. Brigitte, Marius und Frank Tillner aus dem Chiemga
Wonderful accommodation, wonderful hosts
Given the rain, arriving after a week in the desert South, this was a veritable Eden. The first thing to say is make every effort to arrive via the D road (2210?)- we saw hartebeest, wildebeest, jackal, ostrich, warthogs, impala, oryx, not to mention the great bustard getting airborne in front of our car. The chalets are a cut above- quality finish throughout and excellent bathrooms, plus a lovely veranda, full of character. We enjoyed our walks on the reserve particularly along the dry river bed to the large boulders. Food was excellent, and it was a treat to be joined by Paul at dinner on two nights whilst Janet masterminded the kitchen. This was really most enjoyable, and one really felt that we were all enjoying it- we felt as if we were visiting with old friends. Paul and Janet were both interesting and interested- delightful. johnwalker1954 via TripAdvisor
